Friends Day Friday

Elementary Summer Academy brings together students from three different elementary schools.  This affords us a great opportunity for the children to develop friendships with kids from other buildings who they will likely see again at Wydown Middle School and Clayton High School.  Although sometimes it can be tricky for students to get to know each other well in such a short amount of time, we try to help them be understanding of each other and work together so everyone can be successful and enjoy their time at ESA.

In today’s assembly, we focused on friendship.  We showed a clip about “the friendship machine” and discussed how we can show friendship to one another.  Here is what the students had to say:

“If your friend can’t reach, help your friend.”

“Work together.”

“Hold your friends up and help them.”

“Say hi to people you don’t know and introduce yourself to make new friends.”

“Show kindness to show you like them.”

“When they’re in a bad mood, try to cheer them up.”

“Be nice to people in other classes.”

“Friendship is like the golden rule.”

“Ask them if they want to sit with you.”

“Play together and have fun.”

“Play with someone else today.”
 Have a great weekend!
