It's All Good

Week two began today with another community assembly.  Our buddies sat together and we watched a read aloud of Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes by Eric Litwin.  In the afternoon, we had a fifth grade leader be our guest reader.  Many of our buddies even sang along!  Pete the Cat is walking along and steps in all sorts of things that change the color of his white shoes - strawberries, blueberries, mud, etc.  “Does Pete cry?  Goodness, no!”  The moral of the story is, “just keep walking along and singing your song because it’s all good.”  Click the link to watch it, and you might catch yourself singing along, too!

After the story, buddies turned to each other and discussed why we would read this story at ESA.  The students made all sorts of connections!  They recognized that it’s important to be flexible and to try to see the good in every situation, even if it’s not exactly what you thought you wanted.  "Just keep walking along and singing your song."

We are continuing our in-depth work this week with reading and math.  Ms. Hagene is keeping busy getting all the prizes for the library summer reading program ready for delivery, as students are reading up a storm!   Be on the look out for prizes to start being handed out tomorrow.  Keep up the great work, and remember: it’s all good!
